Dan Balmer

Welcome To My New Website

Greetings, I’m glad you’ve found your way to the new site. You will find many new features like interesting (I hope) photos, free music downloads, and calendar updates.

First of all, thanks for your ongoing interest in my music. When I last wrote I was in the middle of touring with Diane Schuur. In November of 2009 we performed in eight countries in Europe which was a true joy. We played festivals throughout Italy and Spain, cool clubs in London, Paris, Koln, and Vienna, and concert halls in Bulgaria and Denmark. Diane was always kind enough to feature some of my music every performance so I was able to put forth some of my own musical vision as well as perform as a sideman. It was great a fulfillment of my lifelong dream.
Currently, Ms. Schuur is touring without a guitarist which is providing an opportunity to pursue more of my music locally, work on recording projects, and branch out and play with new artists.

Recently I performed in Seattle with New York organist Mike Ladonne and Canadian sax player Cory Weeds which was a swinging good time. I subbed for Bucky Pizzarelli at the Eugene Jazz Party, performing there with Dick Hyman, Ken Peplowski, Chuck Redd and David Frishberg. I’ve been playing new compositions with a trio with George Mitchell and Randy Rollofson. Clay Giberson and I are hard at work on a new Go By Train CD. I’ve been able to book more concerts around the NW for my own groups, and also focus on working with two Mel Brown groups as well Dave Friesen, Tom Grant and others.

I’m still blessed to be playing with my own groups on Mondays at Jimmy Mak’s as well as on Wednesdays and Thursdays with Mel Brown. Also, I am working many weekend nights with my friend Mike Pardew at Nel Centro a great new club at the Hotel Modena.

I hope you will come out and hear the music, and please take advantage of the downloads on the website.
